Description
Two colorful farm buildings grouped together near an autumn-kissed grape arbor, catch the light and colors of a fall morning. In the distance, the graceful lines of the Laurel Highlands, a part of the Appalachian Mountains, provide an interesting backdrop.
I guess because of the many beautiful, lazy days spent at the farms of my grandparents and aunts and uncles, I have a fascination with old barns and old farmhouses and all the outbuildings.
This particular image was taken in Bedford County, PA. The white painted, blue trimmed structure depicted here may be what we used to call the necessary, an outhouse, though possibly not.
Image captured with the Nikon D7000 and the 18-200mm vr Nikkor / Nikon lens October 11, 2014. The autumn colors weren't quite peak that early, so they as well as the hint of painterly effects were coaxed out using a bit of digital magic in Photoshop CS6 and Corel Painter 11.

Lois, This is so well done....such an interesting idea and beautifully rendered! My daughter & son-in-law own a cabin in the White Mountains of Arizona...it too has an outhouse...after a while we all got used to it but you are right about taking some things for granted! I really love this image! F/L JERRY

Love the scenery and treatment! I was just working on a collection of my outhouses and always look for them in my travels.
